Smart distribution and renewable energy technology laboratory (eACCESS-SGL) located at RUB project partner (Bhutan).
The focus of this laboratory will be on LV and MV networks with embedded local energy and storage sources, both integrated and isolated from the backbone grid. Students will familiarize with the construction, operation and the maintenance of the basic smart grid components like PV panels, hydro and wind turbines, batteries, network control and data acquisition systems (SCADA) and advanced metering and load management systems (AMI, Energy Management Units), dedicated grid communication systems, advanced protection units. The laboratory facility will include a physical, realistic (representative) model of the distribution grid giving the students and trainees the unique opportunity to exercise a variety of typical network operations like voltage control, frequency control, synchronisation of generating units, protection devices settings and testing, metering equipment (meters, VT&CT) installation and integration, etc.
