Platform Development
eACCESS teaching and learning platform will include innovative teaching mechanisms for classwork and laboratory work. It will support video-assisted pedagogy, peer-to-peer studies, teamwork, and new methods for students’ progress, assessment and feedback collection. The platform will allow partner universities to engage with students from remote locations who are physically unable to attend classes, widening access for future power engineers.
Following a formal decision making process, which consisted of various consultations and inquiries in form of surveys, eACCESS adopted an on-site Moodle-based eLearning platform. University of the West of Scotland (UWS) has been taking the lead in exploiting this initiative and is supporting the development and deployment of the eLearning platform in the partner universities.
Platform Design: eACCESS module baseline (S-O-C-A-P)
Structure: Courses will be structured clearly so that students can find their way around the course site and navigate quickly. Upon entering the module, students should be able to understand and navigate the sequence of activities, access information, and easily understand the layout of the module.
Orientation is about nudging learners into following the correct path within your module. You must orient your learners so that they are able to progress and engage with the contents of your module.
Communication: You must ensure that effective and consistent communication is maintained with and between the students.
Assessments: Assessments criteria, mechanisms and schedule must be clearly conveyed to students.
Progression and feedback: In blended and fully online deliveries you must provide the mechanisms for students to receive early feedback about their progression.
