D1 Feasibility study. Preparation for the development of new teaching modules, new teaching facilities and methods
The work package deals with the preparatory work for the development, implementation and validation of new teaching modules of master courses and professional training courses on electrical power engineering. It includes a feasibility study of the introduction of new specialized course units in terms of prerequisites and the preparatory subjects, already available lecturing and laboratory facilities, presently used teaching methods and tools. The analysis will include also an analysis of the availability of human resources, local (university) and national legal aspects concerning implementation of new teaching courses and organization of professional trainings, education market studies and job market studies regarding the competitiveness and attractiveness of the planned teaching activities.
D2 Development and/or modernization of the electrical power engineering curriculum, modernization and validation of teaching methods.
The main objective of this work package is a preparation of the basic electrical power engineering curriculum, development of new teaching methods that will be used to deliver selected course units of the designed course. These teaching modules including lecturing, tutorials and laboratories, will cover the
most important technical issues of the electrical power engineering area. tutorials and laboratories, will cover the most important technical issues of the electrical power engineering area.
The development or modernisation of course units oriented on students of Electrical Faculties will cover both undergraduate and master level. Majority of partner universities (KEC, RUB, ATM and SCU) will modernize their existing curriculum of undergraduate Electrical Engineering courses. PU will modernize their existing master course in Electrical Engineering and KEC in the close collaboration with PU is going also develop and implement their master course in Smart Power Engineering from beginning by adopting core eACCESS subjects and sharing other subjects with PU.
Beyond of the basic course units and additional course units, the eACCESS project will deliver a number of professional training courses which will focus on the most important aspects of the current transformation of the power sector, technological evolution, decarbonisation and liberalization of the energy sector.
D3 Development of the cloud-based teaching platform
The main objective of this work package is the implementation of the dedicated, cloud-based teaching platform. The technical solution will follow the widely approved Moodle structure. The platform will offer the following functionalities:
- Facilitate multi-language contents including partner countries official working languages and foreign language assistance.
- Distribute teaching materials and individual assignments.
- Facilitate distant lecturing as well as running group and individual student tutorials.
- Collect student works, test and exams.
- Help to verify student knowledge and assist with marking, collect and store students works.
- Support advanced methods of the assessment of knowledge assimilation process by the students.
- Facilitate teamwork, project-based learning methods and peer-to-peer studies.
- Offer a basic functionality concerning the measurement of the effectiveness of the teaching process (statistics, progress tracking, reporting).
- Support basic administration of the courses and individual course units
- Support knowledge sharing and dissemination (wiki and RSS broadcasting channels)
- Support harvesting of teaching experience and maintenance of teacher knowledge, enhancement of tutor skills.
- Guarantee high-security standards and reliable operation.
D4 Development and modernization of teaching facilities.
The main objective of this work package is an upgrade of existing and development of new teaching facilities in particular two kinds of laboratories. Physical laboratory facilities create an excellent opportunity for a hands-on experience both for students, researchers doing their PhD studies and for the professional staff from the power companies attending complementary training within academia.
The eACCCESS project is going to develop four types of physical laboratory facilities:
- The HV laboratory (eACCESS-HVL) located at the KEC project partner (Nepal)
- Smart distribution and renewable energy technology laboratory (eACCESS-SGL).located at RUB project partner (Bhutan).
- The power system computer simulation laboratory (eACCESS-CSL) located at ATM project partner (Indonesia).
- The power electronic laboratory (eACCESS-PEL)
D5 Quality control plan and project sustainability
Quality control will be an integral part of the project and will aim to ensure that project objectives are met in the most effective way. The quality control strategy of the eACCESS project will ensure that quality is planned for both the deliverables and activities.
It will be based on a Quality Control Plan (QCP), which will define the general approach to quality control, internal and external evaluation and the procedures to be followed by the partners for effective communication as well as production and documentation of the following Project deliverables:
- Development of the detailed quality assessment plan and procedures.
- Quality Management
- Attestation and certification of the new teaching modules.
- Development of the project sustainability maintenance long-term strategy.
D6 Dissemination and Exploitation of Project Results
The aim of dissemination and exploitation is to ensure the visibility and communication of its actions and results towards the main target groups as well as towards all those stakeholders who can be positively impacted by the exploitation of the same results. It also aims to spread the expertise acquired through the project lifetime as broadly and as comprehensively as possible; and to disseminate the projects’ results to potential multipliers.
Targeted audience and beneficiaries include the following professional and social groups:
- Higher education institutions including partner universities.
- Teachers and administrative staff
- Students and professionals.
- Power companies, utilities.
- Environment protection organisation and umbrella institutions actively supporting sustainable transformation of the power business.
- Employment offices and recruitment agencies.
- General public
D7 eACCESS project management
The main objective of this WP is to ensure the achievement of the project results through administrative coordination as well as to provide timely and efficient organizational and financial coordination meeting contractual commitments.
