eAccess Nepal meeting: 10th - 14 April 2023 Location: Kathmandu, Nepal
The eACCESS Management Meeting and Workshop/Training took place from 10th to 14th April 2023 in Kathmandu, Nepal. The event brought together partners from TUL, Poland; AUTH, Greece; UWS, Scotland; SCU and ATM, Indonesia; RUB, Bhutan; and PU, Pokhara, Nepal to discuss the progress and management of the eACCESS project.
Day 1: 10th April 2023:
The meeting started with registration and a networking session accompanied by tea and coffee. The participants gathered at the KEC venue for the following sessions:
10:00AM-12:30PM: eACCESS Pillar I Management and Progress Reporting The first session of the day focused on the management and progress reporting of eACCESS Pillar I. The partners presented their achievements and discussed the challenges faced during the implementation.
12:30PM-1:30PM: Lunch Break A lunch break was provided to the participants, offering them an opportunity to network and interact.
1:30PM-3:30PM: eACCESS Pillar II Management and Progress Reporting The second session centered around the management and progress reporting of eACCESS Pillar II. Each partner shared their updates and addressed any issues encountered.
3:30PM-5:30PM: eACCESS Pillar III Management and Progress Reporting The final session of the day focused on the management and progress reporting of eACCESS Pillar III. The partners discussed their achievements and outlined future plans.
6:00PM: Reception Dinner A reception dinner was organized in Kathmandu, providing an informal setting for networking and fostering collaboration among the participants.
Day 2: 11th April 2023
The second day of the event consisted of various activities and workshops held at the KEC venue:
10:00AM-12:00PM: eACCESS Dissemination Activities, Quality, and Website The participants engaged in discussions regarding eACCESS dissemination activities, quality assurance, and website development. Strategies for effectively promoting the project were explored.
12:00PM-1:00PM: Workshop on ‘Comparison of Flipped Classroom Teaching Methods for Power Engineering Subjects’ A workshop was conducted to explore different flipped classroom teaching methods for power engineering subjects. The participants shared their experiences and best practices.
1:00PM-2:00PM: Lunch Break A lunch break was provided to the participants at the KEC venue.
2:00PM-3:00PM: Workshop on ‘Extended Realities for Education: Applications’ The workshop focused on the applications of extended realities in education. The participants discussed the potential benefits and challenges of implementing these technologies.
3:00PM-3:30PM: Orientation Tour/Visit to eACCESS-APEL (Automation and Power Electronics Laboratory) The participants had the opportunity to visit the eACCESS-APEL and gain insights into the automation and power electronics laboratory.
Day 3: 12th April 2023
The third day of the event commenced with separate sessions for the project management board (PMB) meeting and internal quality assurance committee (QAC) meeting at the KEC venue. The schedule for the day was as follows:
9:00AM-12:00PM: eACCESS PMB Meeting The project management board conducted their meeting to discuss project updates, future plans, and resolve any outstanding issues.
11:30AM-12:00PM: Internal QAC Meeting The internal quality assurance committee convened to review the project’s quality assurance processes and ensure compliance with the set standards.
12:00PM-1:00PM: Lunch Break The participants enjoyed a lunch break at the KEC venue.
1:00PM-5:00PM: eACCESS PMB Meeting and Training on New Teaching Techniques (continued) The PMB meeting continued after the lunch break, followed by a training session on new teaching techniques. The participants shared innovative approaches to enhance teaching effectiveness.
Day 4: 13th April 2023
The fourth day involved a visit to the Marshyangdi Hydro Power Plant (MHPP), a 69 MW run-of-the-river hydropower plant located in Dhading. The schedule for the day was as follows:
7:00AM-1:00PM: Visit to Marshyangdi Hydro Power Plant (MHPP) The participants had the opportunity to tour the MHPP facility, gaining insights into the operations and technology behind the 69 MW hydropower plant.
1:00PM-2:00PM: Lunch at Trishuli Riverside Resort A lunch break was arranged at the Trishuli Riverside Resort in Dhading, providing a scenic backdrop for the participants to relax and network.
2:00PM-4:00PM: Return back to accommodation in Tanahun
Day 5: 14th April 2023
The final day of the event involved a social and networking event with team-building activities in Charoundi, Dhading District. The participants enjoyed rafting, sightseeing, and engaged in team-building exercises. The schedule for the day was as follows:
8:00AM-2:00PM: Way to Charoundi (Dhading District), Rafting, and Sightseeing The participants traveled to Charoundi in Dhading District for a rafting experience and sightseeing activities, fostering team bonding and relaxation.
Social and Networking Event with Team Building Activities During the social and networking event, the participants engaged in team-building activities to enhance collaboration and communication among the partners.
1:00PM-2:00PM: Lunch A lunch break was provided during the social and networking event.
2:00PM-6:00PM: Return to Kathmandu The participants returned to Kathmandu from Tanahun, marking the conclusion of the eACCESS management meeting and training.
The eACCESS Management Meeting and Workshop/Training provided an excellent platform for partners from TUL, Poland; AUTH, Greece; UWS, Scotland; SCU and ATM, Indonesia; RUB, Bhutan; and PU, Pokhara, Nepal to share progress, exchange ideas, and strengthen collaboration within the eACCESS project. The event successfully achieved its objectives of enhancing project management, disseminating project outcomes, and exploring new teaching techniques for power engineering subjects.
