Training on High Voltage Engineering
High Voltage Engineering is one of the modules developed by the Asian partners (PU & RUB) under the guidance of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Taking account of the insufficient tansmission capacity of existing and planned cross-border transmission lines becoming the major obstacles for the development of regional electricity market for countries like Nepal and Bhutan, the eACCESS project felt it necessary to develop training and laboratory facilities supporting the teaching and learning activities for the high voltage engineering.
A physical training meeting was held from 10th to 14th July 2023 at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Thessaloniki, Greece. Members from Pokhara University of Nepal and from the Royal University of Bhutan attended this training, which focused on High Voltage Engineering training in the High Voltage Laboratory at AUTH.
Following aspects were covered in this workshop:
• The critical understanding of the basic principles and problems of high voltage technology, with emphasis on the generation and measurement of high voltages and high currents.
• The development of practical skills related to the use of high voltages and high currents, through the acquisition of laboratory experience.
• The ability to design and implement high voltage and high current generators as well as measurement systems in accordance with the relevant test Standards.
• The ability to carry out laboratory practicals, evaluate their results and draw general conclusions through processing the measurements.
